Nine deaths increase the total number of victims of COVID-19 to 951

The totality of positive cases was adjusted after adding 42 cases with a sample collection date prior to November 1, while the universe of probable cases was also adjusted after subtracting 16 cases that had a positive molecular test. Of the 568 hospitalized patients, 85 patients are confined in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 70 are connected to an artificial respirator. To date, the island’s hospitals have 256 intensive care beds and 708 artificial respirators available for adults.

In addition, the agency explained a death confirmed by COVID-19 corresponds to the death of a person with one or more positive molecular tests. Probable death is the death of a patient who was diagnosed with COVID-19 through an antigen test or whose clinical picture meets the criteria to believe that he had COVID-19, but never had a molecular or antigen test to detect the virus. Meanwhile, suspicious death refers to the death of a person in which a specific antibody is detected in serum, plasma or through a serological test with their blood.

Confirmed positive cases (molecular test)

The total of 42,790 confirmed positive cases corresponds to 23,035 women and 19,755 men. The group of patients between 20 and 29 years old dominates with the highest number of infections (7,565), followed by those between 30 and 39 years old (7,236) and those between 40 and 49 years old (7,201).

The metropolitan region is the one with the most confirmed positive cases with a total of 14,387, followed by the Bayamón region (9,551) and Caguas (5,701). However, the agency has 285 confirmed cases for which it has not been able to identify the region.

San Juan remains the municipality with the most confirmed infections with 7,602 cases, followed by Bayamón (3,463), Carolina (3,057) and Guaynabo (1,638). Health still does not have available the municipality of 1,014 confirmed cases.

Probable positive cases (antigen test)

The total of 795 positive cases in antigen test is divided by 418 corresponding to women and 377 to men. In this category, the group of patients between 10 and 29 years old registers the highest number of probable infected with 137, followed by the group between 50 and 59 years old with 135 and the group between 30 and 39 years old with 110.

The Metro region dominates the statistics with 198 probable infected, followed by the Bayamón region (184) and the Caguas region (167). However, Salud has 48 probable cases for which it has not been able to identify the region.

At the municipal level, San Juan has the highest number of probable cases with 84, followed by Bayamón (72) and Caguas (64). The agency does not have available the town of 46 probable cases.

Suspicious positive cases (serological test)

The total of 36,810 probable positive cases is divided by 20,586 corresponding to women and 16,224 to men. In this category, the group of patients between 20 and 29 years of age also registered the highest number of probable infected with 6,155, followed by the group of 40 to 49 years with 5,902 and that of 50 to 59 years with 5,761.

The metropolitan region dominates the statistics with 8,995 suspected infected, followed by the Bayamón region (8,093) and Caguas (4,588). However, it has 1,139 suspected cases for which it has not been able to identify the region.

San Juan is also the largest municipality with suspected cases (4,598), followed by Bayamón (2,544) and Carolina (1,836). The agency does not have available the town of 741 suspected cases.
