Jerusalem: Israel creates artificial embryo without the help of sperm. Scientists have developed the first synthetic embryo outside the womb using stem cells grown in petri dishes.
An embryo is developed without the help of sperm by using unfertilized eggs. The research team used mouse stem cells grown in petri dishes to develop the embryos. This is a breakthrough that offers new possibilities for organ transplant surgeries and growing new tissue.

The ability of sperm cells to self-organize into many cells is used here. Professor Jacob Hanna, head of the research team at Weizmann’s Department of Molecular Genetics, revealed that the placenta-like environment in the womb was designed to help provide nutrients to the cells.
