At Ineos it seems that there is no trouble as was speculated, or at least things have been becoming clear around the claims of Egan Bernal, Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas in this year’s Tour.

Froome, a four-time winner of the prestigious French race, although he has repeatedly indicated that he hopes to achieve his fifth title, did not spare praise for his teammate and winner of the Tour last year, the Colombian Egan Bernal.

“It is true that a new generation has emerged. Cyclists like Evenepoel, Pogacar and Bernal are phenomenal. It is hard to believe how well they are performing at such a young age. I see it as a fantastic thing, a great boost for cycling,” he said. Froome in an interview for the Dutch magazine Helden.

He noted that “These super talents have raised the bar and we will have to match that. We also have to look for improvements at all levels, whether in our training or in our nutrition. If we want to defeat these young people, we will have to exceed our limits.”

Froome emphasized that the Tour remains a great challenge for him. “The Tour de France is by far my most important challenge. A fifth victory on the Tour is something unique.”

The French race is scheduled to start on August 29.
