This month’s issue of Nintendo Dream features an interview with Tetsuya Nomura from Square Enix and Masanobu Suzui from Indieszero. The two were there to promote Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, but the discussion ended in an interesting way. Nintendo Dream ended the interview by asking what the two developers wanted to put forward about Melody of Memory. Finally, after some talking, Suzui and Nomura said the following (translated by Oni Dino from Nintendo Everything):
Suzui: It was a rare opportunity for you to appear in a Nintendo Dream article with a Kingdom Hearts title you were involved in.
Nomura: I’m sure I’ll be back in the not too distant future.
These latter comments are particularly interesting as they weren’t suggested and have nothing to do with the original Nintendo Dream question. Nomura could be hinting at another unannounced game that’s slated for Nintendo Switch given he was talking about returning for another Nintendo Dream interview – i.e. a Nintendo magazine. The first thing that might come to mind is Kingdom Hearts. While technically possible, Nomura recently suggested that porting of older games in the series is not possible on Nintendo’s hybrid conosle. But maybe Nomura is planning something else for the console. We know The World Ends with You is coming to anime in 2021, so how about a sequel to the original game?
