“Nora where?”.. an Egyptian whose grandfather gave her a third of the inheritance, and her father kidnapped her

Days after her abduction, the Egyptian security services managed to rescue the Korean-Egyptian Noura, who was kidnapped by her father last week in the Maadi area, south of Cairo.

The story began with a hashtag that spread on social media, launched by the kidnapped’s friends, after her grandfather’s wife surprised them that her father had kidnapped her.

The tag was widely spread, enabling her to communicate her story to the competent authorities, and then release her.

What’s the story?

The details of the story go back more than 20 years, when the Egyptian Ali Essam married a woman of Russian and Korean nationalities, and gave birth to their daughter, Nora.

A few months after her birth, disagreements occurred between the two parties that ended in divorce, so the father left his daughter with his father to raise her in Egypt.

At that time, the grandfather and his wife took care of the little girl and provided her with care in all respects, especially with the father’s preoccupation with his marriage to another woman and his travels to Japan.

After the grandfather’s death, it was found that he bequeathed a third of his estate and property to his 23-year-old granddaughter, Nora.

He beat her and took her by force to his house

And when the father learned what his father had done, he returned to Cairo to take his daughter with him to Japan and get the money and property that belonged to her, especially since her share of her grandfather’s estate is more than all the heirs, including her father himself.

After the girl refused, the father beat her, then took her outside the house and hid her in his house.

The grandfather’s wife submitted a report to the Korean Embassy, considering that the girl holds Korean citizenship, and submitted another report to the Egyptian security services, demanding that the girl be rescued from her father and allowed to reside with her, especially since she is no longer a minor and has exceeded the legal age of 21 years.

A statement by the Public Prosecutor stated, on Monday evening, that the competent authorities monitored publications on social media about the abduction of his 23-year-old daughter in the Maadi region by a father, her detention and beatings.

This coincided with the report of the grandfather’s wife, and the prosecution began the investigation.

She discovered that the girl’s grandfather had obtained a court ruling for her custody, and after his death, disputes arose between his son and his granddaughter over the will and the money of the estate.

accusations of father

The prosecution also heard the statements of two security personnel in one of the facilities adjacent to the property, who confirmed their vision of the father on the day of the incident, taking his daughter against her after he beat her.

The girl said in the investigations that she had been staying with her grandfather and his wife since she was 5 months old, while her father was in Japan, explaining that her relationship with him had been cut off since that time until the grandfather’s death.

She added that disagreements arose between them because of the inheritance that came to her from her grandfather, stressing that he came to her residence and beat her and took her by force to his house, and there he beat her, kept her in a separate room and stole her mobile phone.

The girl also continued that she tried to escape from her father’s house to no avail, until the authorities found her there and released her, stressing that she did not want her to live with him.

Investigations, beatings and coercion

In addition, the Public Prosecution accused the father of kidnapping his daughter by coercion, detaining her without an order, beating her, injuring her, and stealing her phone.

And ordered his detention and requested police investigations about the incident.

I also ordered that the girl be brought to the Forensic Medicine Authority to show her injuries.

It is noteworthy that the incident sparked great anger on social media, amid calls for the harshest penalties to be imposed against the abusive father.
