Obama, Trump tie for the most admired man in the 2019 Gallup vote of U.S. adults

President Donald Trump and former President Barack Obama took part in the Gallup poll for the Most Respected Man of 2019, a title Obama has now earned twelve times.

The two were each 18% in the US adult survey released on Monday. This was Trump’s first time at the top.

Second among the men were former President Jimmy Carter, Tesla’s CEO, Elon Musk, philanthropist and Microsoft founder Bill Gates, Pope Francis, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) And MP Adam Schiff (D.) – Calif.), The Dalai Lama and Investor Warren Buffett.

In the women’s category, the former first lady Michelle Obama secured the title of the most admired woman for the second time in a row with 10% of the vote. First Lady Melania Trump took second place with 5%.

Third place went to former talk show host Oprah Winfrey, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and adolescent climate change activist Greta Thunberg.

Other women who received votes included Queen Elizabeth II of Britain, Parliament President Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), German Chancellor Angela Merkel and the former U.S. Ambassador to the United States Nikki Haley.

The survey, which has been conducted annually since 1948, revealed open answers from December 2 to 15.

In the male category, 11% of respondents said they were the most admired choice, while in the female category, 16% named a relative or friend.

Responders generally clung to their political party, with 41% of the Democrats calling Obama and 45% of the Republicans calling Trump. Independent voters were equally divided between the two men.

The incumbent president is typically described as America’s most admired man, who, according to Gallup, ranked first in 58 of the 78 previous polls.
