Quebec also predicts that almost all employees in the health network will have received their first dose of vaccine by February 8.
But the government says that the federal government will have to provide enough doses by then.
As of Thursday, 48,362 people had been vaccinated in Quebec, according to data from the Ministry of Health and Social Services.
The change in approach to the administration of the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine at the start of the year resulted in the release of more than 25,000 doses.
Quebec also recently received 32,500 doses of Moderna’s COVID vaccine.
According to the MSSS, 50,000 doses were sent to the regions to allow everyone to be vaccinated.
Astonished by Premier Legault’s outing on vaccine availability, Ottawa told TVA Nouvelles that the province had 88,000 doses of vaccine in hand as of January 5.
This means that nearly 40,000 doses are currently available.
Discussions between the federal government and the provinces are due to take place this Thursday evening on vaccination.
Based on what TVA Nouvelles has learned, Trudeau is expected to ask the provinces if they need help with vaccination, organizing or setting up the sites.
