Occupying production vessels and protesting Daewoo Shipbuilding’s subcontracting union, applying for an arrest warrant to the executive department

The police have applied for an arrest warrant against the labor union executive department of a subcontractor of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, which is on strike demanding a wage increase and occupied production ships.

Gyeongnam Geoje Police Station announced on the 4th that it had applied for an arrest warrant for two people, including the head of the Chosun subcontracting branch and the vice president of the Geoje Tongyeong Goseong of the Metal Workers’ Union, on charges of obstruction of business.

They are accused of obstructing the process by preventing non-union workers from working and using violence.

Earlier, the management filed a complaint with the police at the end of last month when the loss of sales due to process delays, such as the cancellation of the ship launching schedule due to the union’s strike, worsened.

The police applied for an arrest warrant on the 1st after they did not comply with the two requests to appear.

Whether or not a warrant will be issued is expected to come out this afternoon at the earliest.

The branch has been on strike since the 2nd of last month, demanding a 30% increase in wages and recognition of bargaining organizations.

In particular, seven people, including the vice chairman, occupied the super-large crude oil carrier being produced at Dock 1 on the 22nd of last month and are squatting.

The vice president crouched into a steel structure measuring 1m in width, length, and height.

The rest of the union members are also protesting on iron railings 15 to 20 meters high.

A police official said, “The union administration did not comply with the police’s request to appear, and it seems that they will not cooperate in the future, so we applied for an arrest warrant.” .
