Today, Saturday, the Ministry of Planning announced the participation of more than 40 million subscribers to the mobile phone service and (20) million subscribers to the internet service during the year 2021.
And the ministry stated, in a statement received by Alsumaria News, that “the ministry announced the numbers of fixed phones, the number of subscribers to the Internet service, the number of exchanges, and postal parcels, according to the report issued by the Central Statistical Organization, which covered the year 2021 compared to the year before 2020.”
The most important indicators included in the report were as follows:
– The number of subscribers to mobile phone lines for companies operating in Iraq, including the Kurdistan region, reached (40.7) million subscribers, while the telephone density of those phones per 100 people reached (98.8) for the year 2021.
– The number of subscribers to internet service lines for mobile phones for companies operating in Iraq reached (20.3) million subscribers for the year 2021.
– The number of fixed telephone lines (exchange capacity) reached (2.243) million lines for the year 2021, compared to (2.151) million lines in 2020, with an increase of (4.3%).
– The number of exchanges reached (283) for the year 2021, compared to (280) for the year 2020, with an increase of (1.1%).
– The governorates of Diyala and Najaf accounted for the highest percentage of fixed-line telephony, reaching (12.8) and (10.1), respectively, for the whole of Iraq except for the Kurdistan region.
– The telephone density of fixed-line phones for all of Iraq, except for the Kurdistan region, reached (6.3) per 100 people in 2021, and the governorates of Diyala and Najaf constitute the highest percentage of the telephone density, reaching (12.8) and (10.1), respectively.
– The total number of international postal parcels reached (12047) postal parcels in 2021, including (8814) incoming postal parcels and (3233) outgoing postal parcels.
– The number of subscribers to wireless telephone lines of the General Company for Communications and Informatics (Umniah + Wataniya) reached (644.8) thousand subscribers for the year 2021 •
– The number of depositors of savings funds in Iraq reached (89) thousand in 2021, compared to (128) thousand depositors in 2020, a decrease of (30.5%).
– The number of telephone service offices in Iraq reached (176) offices in the year 2021, including (56) offices in Baghdad Governorate and (120) offices distributed among the rest of the governorates.
– The number of post offices reached (259) post offices in 2021, compared to (282) post offices in 2020, with a decrease of (8.2%).
