A new variant of the Covid 19 Disease-causing coronavirus ‘Omicron Virus’ has been confirmed in the UK. The virus has been confirmed in two passengers from South Africa. The ‘Omicron’ variety was first discovered in South Africa.

Sajid Javed, the health secretary, said in a statement that two people who had been diagnosed with the virus in the UK had been transferred to isolation and details of those involved were being collected.
Meanwhile, Kovid confirmed that 61 of the passengers who arrived in the Netherlands from South Africa were of great concern in the Netherlands. Further tests are being carried out to determine the presence of omicron in any of these.
