A shooting broke out on Monday morning in Lokeren, where a man opened fire on another. According to HLN, the shooter took refuge in the victim’s house before surrendering to the police several hours later. It would seem that the shots rang out due to a love quarrel. Seriously injured, the victim, a 42-year-old father of two, was first rushed to hospital. She unfortunately died there, said the mayor of Eksaarde, a sub-municipality of Lokeren.
Law enforcement cordoned off the area. A police special forces unit was called to the scene.
