“Operation Cayaurima” is deployed in Sucre

A special deployment of citizen security began in Sucre state to find the location and capture of the members of the criminal organization El Curi, military sources said. The aforementioned criminal group recently released a video on social networks showing when they hit the sergeant of the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) Luis Planche.

The deployment brings together some 200 officials from the regional police force, the GNB and the National Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Command, among others, all under the command of General Alejandro José León Vera, director of Polisucre. The activation of the operation is a derivative of “Operation Bolivarian Shield 2021”, ordered by the Minister of Interior, Justice and Peace, Remigio Ceballos Ichaso.

The mission of Operation Cayaurima pursues the scrutiny, search and monitoring of the members of the Structured Group of Organized Crime El Curi, whose leaders are known by the nicknames of El Manco, El Chacho, El Cesar, El Pelón and El Jake, who operate in the Catuaro parish of the Ribero municipality (Cariaco), Sucre, specifically in the sectors of Santa Rosa, Pica de Catuaro, Santa Lucia, Campearito, La Espuga, La Palencia, La Sequía, Centro Poblado, Rio Grande, Párare, Costilla de Vaca and San Vicente.
