The Oppo brand has just announced the very soon availability of its new mid-range smartphone, the Reno8. This replaces the Reno7 which is almost ignored. But what are the differences between the two mobiles. Here are the features compared.
The designs of smartphones Oppo Reno7 et Reno8 are different since the first has a block of optics installed on a plate while the objectives of the second are more “integrated” with a shell that comes back on them, a bit like on the more high-end models Find X5 et Find X5 Pro, for example. Physically, the Reno7 weighing 175 grams on the scale against 179 grams for the Reno8. The latter has almost the same dimensions since it measures 160 mm high against 159.9 mm for the Reno7 with 73.4 mm wide against 73.2 mm. The Reno8 is slightly thicker than its predecessor but still well under 8mm with just 7.67mm in profile. This finesse does not prevent it from offering an equivalent battery capacity, ie 4500 mAh. However, the Reno8 charges much faster than the Reno7 with a supported power of 80 watts versus 33 watts.
Which offers the most performance and the best connectivity?
The performance part has also been revised upwards with the integration of a chipset MediaTek Dimensity 1300 contre un Soc Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 installed in the heart of the Reno7. Both have 8 GB of RAM while the Reno8 can draw up to 5 GB of additional virtual RAM if needed. The Reno7 offers 128 GB of expandable storage space while the Reno8 offers an internal memory of 256 GB but which to which no additional space can be added. The Reno8 is compatible 5G while the Reno7 is limited to 4G. The Reno8 has the advantage of offering Wi-Fi 6 versus Wi-Fi 5 for the Reno7. They’re both NFC et Bluetooth and are equipped with a 3.5 mm audio jack port for connecting headphones. Both devices support two SIM cards and their fingerprint reader is installed under the screen. The latter is equivalent on both mobiles with 6.43 inches on an AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 90 Hz. However, that of the Reno8 supports the format HDR10+ for optimal viewing from streaming platforms.
A microscope in one case and an advanced setup in the other
Finally, for the photo and video part, the Reno7 has a 64-megapixel main sensor versus a 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 module on the Reno8. The latter is equipped with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor and another 2-megapixel lens, which is also the case with the Reno7, but which completes this picture with the presence of a microscope sensor allowing you to zoom in x15. and up to x30, an original characteristic already seen for example on the Oppo Find X3 Pro where the realme GT 2 Pro.
