Orange in exclusive negotiations for the acquisition of VOO, Telenet regrets its ouster

Orange Belgium, a subsidiary of the French company Orange, is now the only one in contention for the acquisition of the Walloon cable operator VOO, said several Belgian media on Monday. Telenet confirmed that it “was not retained in the framework of the final negotiations”.

The sales process for the Walloon operator and cable distributor has been underway for a year and a half. For several months, Telenet and Orange had been neck and neck. Telenet is now offside.

“The company regrets this decision because an acquisition by Telenet could have brought added value both for the global competitive landscape in Belgium, for the Walloon and Brussels Regions, as well as for VOO as a company”, commented the operator, who will “evaluate the decision taken and examine the options available” to him.
