Orlando City qualified for the quarterfinals of the MLS play-offs on Saturday by beating New York City after an incredible penalty shootout, Columbus Crew eliminating the New York Red Bulls (3- 2). Orlando and New York City ended overtime 1-1 after scoring twice in the game’s opening eight minutes. Three minutes from the end of regulation time, the back of Orlando Ruan took a direct red card for a violent action on Gary Mackay-Steven. Then, receiving a second yellow card for having gone too far, Orlando goalkeeper Pedro Gallese was sent off in the middle of a penalty shoot-out.
