ReportageThe cold snap hitting the United States is bringing chaos in some areas and spectacular scenery in others.
While the cold wave affecting the United States is creating difficult situations in states not used to such temperatures, such as Texas, where many homes are still deprived of water and electricity, it also offers a fairytale spectacle at Niagara Falls, between Lakes Erie and Ontario, on the border between Canada and New York State. The waterfalls there are partially taken by ice, as can be seen in a series of photos.

The event is not uncommon, since a temperature of around – 5 ° C is sufficient for several days, which is relatively common in winter in this region, but this very photogenic spectacle attracts each time a large number of tourists. Niagara water continues to flow, however, at its seasonal flow (5,720 m3/ s), distributed among the three waterfalls of the site: the American Falls (American Falls), the Horseshoe (Horseshoe Falls) and the Bridal Veil Falls (Bridal Veil Falls). The waterfalls have only been frozen entirely once in recent history, in 1848.
