In a carte blanche for “Le Monde”, co-signed with the economist Thomas Piketty, you mention the risk of having “major social tensions” in Europe. Do you fear a “yellow vests” effect in Belgium?

“Every morning, people call out to me and talk to me about their situations. Many have great social difficulties and they are workers. This is a new phenomenon compared to recent years. We have raised a lot of replacement income , but it’s still very low. So, yes, there is a part of the population that has real difficulties. We have to hear it and take measures.”
