Pensioners are stuck with damage: children threw in my car window | news

Pensioner Holger (64) is left with damage |

“Daycare kids smashed my car window”

Small children, many stones, great damage. Nobody just wants to pay.

As usual, on July 5 of this year, Holger Bahra (64) parked his Skoda Octavia in front of the residential building in Hennigsdorf (Brandenburg), in front of the fence of the “Pünktchen & Anton” daycare center next door. He was in Magdeburg when the police called and informed him that daycare children had thrown stones at his car. Bahra to BILD am SONNTAG: “At first I thought: not so wild.”

Children threw stones for minutes

But then his son (20) sends photos. The rear window is destroyed, there are dents on the side. Estimate from the workshop: almost 800 euros.

A neighbor told Bahra that at least three children threw marble-sized rocks over the fence at the car for 10 minutes. Educators were deep in conversation 15 to 20 meters away. For Bahra, a clear case of breach of duty: “A pedestrian could have been hit!”

But the insurance of the city day care center refuses to pay. She could “not find any breach of duty when educators discuss official issues during working hours”.

The scene of the crime: Bahra's car was in the parking lot in front of the day care center. A teacher was parked next to it. The paint on her car was also damaged

►The father of a small stone thrower (6) apologized, but has no liability insurance. The city, as the provider of the facility, does not pay either – and does not want to rule out such an occurrence in the future either.

That means: If you park your car in front of the daycare center, it’s your own fault if it gets demolished. Crazy.
