People Watch Trump Casino Destroyed Pay Rp140 Thousand

Former government building casino belongs to a former US President Donald Trump, Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino was destroyed by detonating with 3,000 dynamite on Wednesday (17/2).

The building collapsed in just a few seconds and an enormous cloud of dust swept over Atlantic City’s coast and sidewalks.

Quoting The Guardian, a group of people paid US $ 10 or Rp140,667 (exchange rate Rp.14,066 per US dollar) to watch the destruction. They shout cheers from their car as the building is blown up.

Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small said the building was demolished because it was an eyesore.

“This is a historic moment. It is very interesting,” he said while witnessing the destruction.

Trump Plaza first opened in 1984 and was once the most successful casino in Atlantic City. Big events such as the Mike Tyson boxing match and the Rolling Stones concert were held there.

However, Trump Plaza was abandoned after Donald Trump built the nearby Trump Taj Mahal in 1990. In 2014, Trump Plaza was finally closed due to a quiet casino market.

After the detonation, there were no buildings bearing Trump’s name in Atlantic City. Because Trump Taj Mahal has changed its name to Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

His other casino, Trump Marina, was sold in 2011 and is now called Golden Nugget Atlantic City.
