People’s Power Ethics Committee suspends party membership for former CEO Jun-seok Lee, sanctioning him for an additional year

The People’s Power Central Ethics Committee imposed an additional one-year disciplinary action against former Chairman Lee Jun-seok, who was suspended from party membership.

Accordingly, former Chairman Lee will be suspended from party membership until the beginning of January 2024, in addition to the six-month suspension of party membership.

Lee Yang-hee, chairman of the ethics committee, said that Lee applied for an injunction to prevent the holding of a national committee in accordance with the People’s Power of the People’s Party constitutional rules. As a result, we judged it to be a very inappropriate act.”

He also explained the reason for the disciplinary action, saying, “Damaging the honor of others by using persistent and insulting expressions toward party members, etc., aggravated confusion within the party and accelerated the departure of the public.”

When asked whether former CEO Lee Jun-seok’s absence from the ethics committee affected his disciplinary action, he said, “Absolutely not.” pointed out.

The Ethics Committee said that it had unanimously decided on the level of disciplinary action against former CEO Lee.

On the other hand, the People’s Strength Ethics Committee only took strict precautions from the chairperson for Rep. Kwon Seong-dong, who was also subject to disciplinary action for violating the prohibition rule at the time of the banquet.
