Public Services and Procurement Minister Anita Anand warns there could be temporary delays in deliveries of Pfizer vaccines as the pharmaceutical giant expands its production sites in Europe.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday morning, Anand argued that these temporary delays will not affect Canada’s goal of vaccinating all of its population by the end of September.
She says this is unfortunate, but was to be expected as the supply chain is under pressure from global demand for vaccines.
Ms. Anand made the announcement as the Public Health Agency of Canada released its most recent projections; it is estimated that the number of cases could exceed 10,000 per day by February.
Further details will follow.
