Mann believed that the vaccine would change human DNA.
A pharmacist in the USA has been sentenced to three years in prison for destroying hundreds of corona vaccination doses from the manufacturer Moderna. As the US Department of Justice announced on Tuesday, the man also has to pay damages equivalent to around 69,000 euros to the hospital in the state of Wisconsin where he worked. The 46-year-old had purposely removed the vaccine from the cooling unit, which damaged the vaccine.
According to the Ministry of Justice, 57 people were vaccinated with the non-refrigerated and therefore ineffective agent. “Deliberately attempting to destroy vaccine doses during a national health emergency is a serious crime,” said Assistant Attorney General Brian Boynton.
Dismissed and arrested
The pharmacist was released and arrested after the incident. According to a report in the New York Times, he had made several remarks to his wife that indicated conspiracy theory. Apparently the man believed that the moderna vaccine could change human DNA.
Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, countless conspiracy theories have been spread in online networks, especially about corona vaccines. Experts fear that this misinformation poses a serious threat in the fight against the virus, as it encourages a refusal of vaccinations.
