The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) is investigating a case of gunfire from Monday to Tuesday in the Sainte-Foy sector.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m., at the intersection of avenue des Hôtels and rue Chambalon.

Tuesday morning, David Pelletier, spokesperson for the SPVQ, was able to confirm that at least one shot had been fired in the mentioned sector.

The police dispatched to the scene did not find any suspects. However, a victim who could be linked to the event was found a few moments later, according to the SPVQ. He is a man in his forties, and he had minor injuries that were not caused by a projectile from a firearm.

A witness allegedly described to the police a suspicious vehicle which had fled.

The scene was protected by a security perimeter for investigators, who are expected to look into the file to try to determine the circumstances of the event.

Investigators assigned to the MALSAIN project were called upon to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the event, with the collaboration of the judicial identity unit and the canine unit.

The MALSAIN project was created in February 2019 to counter an increase in violence linked to organized crime drug trafficking.
