SIG installed 3000 solar panels on the roof of the new maintenance center of the public transport operator.
Ecology doesn’t immediately come to mind when you’re in the middle of a parking lot designed for 232 cars and planes roar endlessly as they take off nearby. Yet it is this concept that was celebrated on Monday on the roof of the TPG maintenance center in En Chardon (Vernier).
Reason for the celebrations: the inauguration of a solar power plant at the top of the enormous garage and workshop, built for some 200 trams and buses along the route de Meyrin, just in line with the Cointrin track. For 2.3 million francs, the SIG installed and operate 3,000 panels, covering 5,000 square meters, of which the TPG undertakes to use the current for twenty-five years.
