Between direct continuation of the fifth film and complete reboot of the saga, difficult to imagine what will be the future of the franchise Pirates of the Caribbean. At least that’s what we thought until several rumors about a reboot led by Karen Gillan (Guardians of the Galaxy, Jumanji) surface on the canvas, the British actress can thus become the new face of the saga. If nothing has yet been confirmed by the firm with big ears, it was rumored last week that the actress could take over from Johnny Depp, and interpret Redd, a pirate who is not cold in the eyes.
Although the idea appears innovative and delighted fans of the actress, others were quick to express their anger on social networks after the announcement of the reboot, the absence of Johnny Depp in the skin of Jack Sparrow is not to everyone’s taste. These reactions would have pushed Disney to backtrack and consider the return of the legendary pirate alongside Redd. Indeed, according to Disinsinder, his interpreter is currently in talks to resume his role. If this information should delight fans of the actor and the franchise, it does however raise questions about the form that the famous reboot will take. The presence of Johnny Depp in the cast could further indicate Disney’s desire to produce a sequel to Salazar’s Revenge. A choice that could be risky, the film by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberget having been the least lucrative part of the saga Pirates of the Caribbean.
