police are exploring a new hypothesis, a witness heard “a landslide” after seeing the Belgian

Natacha de Crombrugghe, 28, has been missing since January 24. She was on a trek in Peru. She had left a backpack in her hotel room in Cabanaconde, before leaving early for the Colca Canyon.

Contrary to what was initially announced, “the police are not abandoning the criminal trail”, said the parents of the young Belgian who disappeared to the Belga agency on March 8. “The police investigation into his disappearance is continuing and no leads have been ruled out,” they assured, in close contact with the federal prosecutor’s office.

A new hypothesis

The Peruvian daily Diario Extra claims that the police are now exploring a new hypothesis. A witness, who saw the Brussels woman in San Miguel, said he heard a landslide shortly afterwards.

“I was coming from Tapay in the direction of Cabanaconde and I saw this young woman dressed in a black outfit, with her hair up and a backpack,” described the editor who met Natacha around 7 a.m.

Law enforcement would take this lead seriously. Our Peruvian colleagues report that everything suggests that landslides have indeed taken place. However, no body has yet been found.
