A National Police officer accused of having beaten to death an alleged criminal in the city of Mbanza Kongo, Zaire province, was arrested, Monday, by the Criminal Investigation Service

The act took place on Monday night, in the 11 de Novembro neighborhood, Kianganga area, on the outskirts of the city of Mbanza Kongo, after the alleged criminal and his accomplices allegedly robbed the residence of the aforementioned 2nd class agent, affection to the administration and services department of the Zaire Provincial Command of the National Police.

Following the robbery, where the criminals removed a 48-inch plasma television and a 12 kg butane gas cylinder, the corporation agent together with some residents located one of the alleged criminals and decided to take justice into their own hands. The local Criminal Offenses Investigation Department (DIIP) says, in a press release made public by Angop, yesterday, after locating the individual, the “punishers” set about beating him, tying him up and then pouring gasoline on him with with the intention of lynching him.

This action was frustrated by police officers patrolling that area. The DIIP informs that after what happened, the victim, already with serious injuries, was evacuated to the Zaire Provincial Hospital where she died minutes later. “This is the first case of death by beating that the municipality of Mbanza Kongo has recorded since the beginning of the current year”, guarantees the Police in the aforementioned note.

Pastor accused of sexual abuse of his daughter

An alleged pastor is being accused of sexually abusing his 11-year-old daughter in the municipality of Mbanza Kongo, Zaire province. Upon realizing that he had been denounced, the alleged “Servant of God” fled, but the authorities are working to capture him. This case was reported by the head of the National Children’s Institute (INAC) in the province of Zaire, Rafael Kidiwa, who said that the crimes occurred recently in one of the peripheral neighborhoods of the city of Mbanza Kongo.

Without many details, the source explained that before this act, the alleged pastor had already sexually abused another child (his stepdaughter) aged 14. Rafael Kidiwa told Angop that at the end of last year a father got pregnant with his own 12-year-old daughter, in the municipality of Mbanza Kongo, an act that the accused had been carrying out when the child was just nine years old. From January to date, INAC in the province of Zaire has registered seven cases of sexual abuse of minors.
