A front-line police officer was handed over to trial on charges of making an extreme choice by making threatening remarks to a woman in her 40s whom she had known.

The Incheon District Prosecutors’ Office’s Violent Crimes Detective Department arrested and indicted a 40-year-old inspector at a police station in Incheon on charges of intimidating and teaching suicide.

The police officer is accused of making an extreme choice by threatening a woman in her 40s, whom she has known, over a phone call at dawn on November 2, last year.

As a result of the prosecution’s investigation, it was found that this police officer threatened a woman who said ‘break up’, saying, “I will mobilize all of my police contacts and criminally punish my son to ruin his future, and also conduct a tax investigation into your workplace and make him sit on the street.”

The police officer was also investigated for telling the woman, “I will spare your son, so you should make an extreme choice yourself.”

The woman was found dead at the police officer’s residence in Seo-gu, Incheon on the morning of the same day, hours after a phone call.

After returning from work, the officer found the woman dead and called 911.

The police officer claimed during the prosecution’s investigation that there was no causal link between his remarks and the woman’s extreme choices.

However, the prosecution judged that the woman in question made an extreme choice after the police officer was psychologically pressured, such as causing extreme fear.
