Taycan Cross Turismo differs from the original model not only in its more spacious body, but also in all-wheel drive and air suspension as standard.
Porsche officially introduces the second body version of the Taycan electric car, announced in advance. His name is Taycan Cross Turismo and it is a serial version of the concept Mission E Cross Turismo from 2018. It is therefore a raised station wagon, which is not afraid of an unpaved surface.
The design of the novelty is directly connected to Mission E Cross Turismo, after all, similarly to the default Taycan, it is based on the concept of Mission E. The new body variant differs mainly in the differently shaped rear, which increases the space for passengers in the rear seats and thus the overall space for luggage. The luggage compartment has a stated volume of 405 liters, which increases to 1,171 liters when the rear seats are folded down.
Taycan Cross Turismo wants to be the more practical variant of this electric car. That’s why there is a special roof rack for up to three wheels or a roof box that can handle speeds of up to 200 km / h.
If you really want to take advantage of off-road driving, you should pay extra for the Off-Road Design package. This further increases the ground clearance by 30 mm and also adds special flaps on the bumpers and sills for better body protection.
However, the already standard Gravel driving mode (gravel) adapts the car’s settings to roads with poor surfaces, thanks to a 30 mm increase in ground clearance compared to the starting Taycan. At higher speeds, on the other hand, the car reduces the ground clearance for better airflow around the body.
The range of engines is already abundant at the time of launch, with all wheels being driven in all cases. Taycan Cross Turismo therefore always has two electric motors, one for each axle. Large batteries with a capacity of 93.4 kWh, as well as an air chassis, are also standard on this model.
The basis is the Taycan 4 Cross Turismo with an output of 280 kW, which, however, can increase up to 350 kW for a short time thanks to the overboost function. The Taycan 4S Cross Turismo has 360 kW (respectively up to 420 kW), the Taycan Turbo Cross Turismo then 460 kW (up to 500 kW) and finally the top Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo is also tuned to 460 kW, but with an overboost it provides up to 560 kW.
