President Gustavo Petro installed six new ambassadors - Government - Politics

During the inauguration process, Mauricio Baquero took office as the new ambassador to the Republic of Panama, as did Eduardo Ávila Navarrete, who will be the head of Colombian diplomacy in Spain.

Meanwhile, Ligia Margarita Quessep will be the head of the embassy in Italy.

Undoubtedly, José Noe Ríos Muñoz, who assumed the Colombian embassy in Cuba, will have a key role to the extent that the island can host the peace talks between the National Government and the ELN.

For his part, former Vice Foreign Minister Francisco Javier Echeverry was appointed by President Gustavo Petro as the new ambassador to Switzerland and took office on Thursday night.

There is also Luis Fernando Medina, who took over as Colombia’s new ambassador to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

To this extent, the president expressed that each of the diplomats will have to guarantee that the embassies move away from the aristocracy and that these spaces can really be used by the compatriots who are abroad.
