The president of the Christian Democracy (DC), Fuad Chahín, called on the Government of Sebastián Piñera to “take once and for all seriously” the critical situation in the region of La Araucanía, after new and successive arson attacks, warning that if they continue, self-defense situations may arise.

“This is a situation that has long since collapsed. The complete inability of the Government both from the point of political view and public security in the region of La Araucanía, is creating a climate that can end in the worst scenario, which is that of self-supervision ”, assured the helmsman DC.

Along the same lines, the constituent candidate for District 22 warned that “the time has come when the Government must take the region seriously, and not give a superficial treatment to everything that is happening that is of the utmost gravity ”.

“All the proposals to overcome this situation have been on the table for a long time. The important thing is that decisions begin to be taken immediately and without delay, and measures are implemented from the political and public security point of view ”, he added.

Finally, Chahin indicated that “The main responsibility for reacting lies with the State. That is why it is time for Sebastián Piñera to take seriously what is happening in La Araucanía. This is really unacceptable and the Government must take responsibility for everything that is happening ”.
