President Yoon Seok-yeol departed for Spain today (27th) to attend the NATO summit.

After a 15-hour flight, he arrives in Madrid, Spain, where President Yoon handles 14 diplomatic events in five days and three nights.
What attracts the most attention is the Korea-US-Japan summit scheduled for the 29th.
This summit, which took place in four years and nine months, is expected to address security issues on the Korean Peninsula, including the trend of North Korea’s seventh nuclear test.
A presidential office official said it is unlikely that a bilateral summit between the two leaders will be held.
It is an explanation that although he met Prime Minister Fumio Kishida at least three times during his tour, it was considered difficult to expect results on past issues as Japan is about to hold the House of Councilors election next month.
At the NATO summit on the 29th, President Yoon gives a short three-minute speech.
It will emphasize South Korea’s role in responding to international security crises such as the Ukraine war and call on NATO member states to pay attention to the denuclearization of North Korea.
Bilateral talks with nine European countries were also scheduled.
It is expected that export cooperation measures such as semiconductors, nuclear power plants, and defense industries will be discussed.

First Lady Kim Kun-hee, who went on a tour with President Yoon, will take the first stage in multilateral diplomacy, including attending a welcome gala dinner hosted by the King of Spain.
