Price of the dollar today: new historical record in the cost of the currency – Financial Sector – Economy

The dollar reaches another historic record in the Colombian interbank market. In the first operations of the last working exchange day of this week, the US currency has already reached a maximum of 4,205 pesos, a price not seen until now, although on average said currency is traded at an average value of 4,193 pesos, 42 pesos above the current representative market rate (TRM) for today of 4,151.21 pesos.

Market analysts say that the issue of the eventual recession is beginning to hit raw materials in the world, which is reflected in the behavior of currencies and those of emerging countries cannot be the exception to this situation.

Felipe Campos, manager of Economic Research at Grupo Alianza, says that in the case of Brazil, its currency (real) is being hit by the drop in soybean prices, which is its main export product, Chile with copper and Colomba with oil that yesterday fell percent.

“There is a strong sensitivity in the markets, of all currencies in general losing value against the dollar. There is a complicated global environment, where the political is already included in the price of the dollar at this point, but the direction of the currency will continue to be imposed by oil and the global situation”, the expert points out.

According to reports from the Electronic System of Negotiations of the Colombian Stock Exchange, the purchase and sale of dollars in Colombia took off this Friday about 24 pesos above the official rate in force for the last day of the week.

For Juan David Ballén, Director of Strategy and Investment at Casa de Bolsa, “There is an increase in risk aversion at a global level, which affects the performance of risk assets and increases the demand for safe-haven assets such as the dollar.”
