JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Toyota Indonesia will soon introduce the Toyota GR Yaris. The presence of this hot hatch has been detected since its name was listed in Permendagri No.1 / 2021.
Interestingly, even though it hasn’t been officially launched yet, it turns out that many Indonesian consumers have started chasing it. It was even reported that the unit had run out due to limited quota.

When seen in plain view, the design of the Toyota GR Yaris and TRD Sportivo is clearly different. The Toyota GR Yaris only applies two doors, while the TRD Sportivo carries four doors.
The TRD Sportivo variant also has a longer design, which is 4,145 mm long, 1,730 mm wide and 1,500 mm high.
While the GR Yaris appears with a design that pays more attention to aerodynamics with a high level of rigidity and is more compact with a length of 3,995 mm, width 1,805 mm and height of 1,455 mm.
Although both of these cars are configured with 5 passengers, the aura of a racing car is clearly more pronounced in the GR Yaris. Because the GR Yaris is designed to be comfortable to maneuver.
The hatchback from Toyota Gazoo Racing uses black for the entire interior. The seats used have adopted a sports model with a distinctive racing steering wheel.

A 7-inch touch screen head unit has also been equipped on the GR Yaris to maximize entertainment features.

TRD Sportivo is equipped with a silber-colored interior ornament that makes the cabin look more modern.
Not only that, in terms of entertainment, Yaris TRD Sportivo has also been equipped with a new entertainment system with miracast, bluetooth and USB features, as well as the latest parking camera.
When it comes to engines, the difference is getting clearer. The Toyota GR Yaris is equipped with a 1,600 cc 3-cylinder turbo engine that can produce a maximum power of 261 hp and a peak torque of 360 Nm.
This hatchback carries a new technology 6 speed manual transmission with 4WD GR-Four drive.
While the Toyota Yaris TRD Sportivo uses a 1,496 cc engine, dual VVT-i, DOHC, with 107 ps or the equivalent of 105 tk which can produce a maximum torque of 14.8 kgm or 145 Nm equivalent.
For transmission options, the TRD Sportivo variant is available in two options, namely CVT and 5-speed manual.
Although not yet officially launched in Indonesia. Rumors about the price of the GR Yaris may be sold for under Rp. 1 billion or approximately in the range of Rp. 800 million to Rp. 850 million.
While the Toyota Yaris TRD Sportivo is priced starting at Rp. 284.8 million – Rp. 301.4 million (OTR Jakarta).
The price difference is quite reasonable, because Toyota makes the GR Yaris like a sports car with limited units.
