This is how Prince Harry (37) heats up: The Duke of Sussex attended a rodeo event in Texas at the weekend, to the envy of several animal welfare organizations and probably also his wife. Because Duchess Meghan (40) has long been committed to animal welfare. The royal now has to take sharp criticism.
Reactions began after biographer Omid Scobie, 39, shared a picture of Harry wearing a cowboy hat on Twitter. “Prince Harry was living his best American life,” he wrote. He spent Saturday at the historic Cowtown Coliseum at the Stockyards Rodeo. “The Duke was spotted by locals enjoying good old-fashioned Southern hospitality and a VIP tour of the venue,” Scobie said. Meghan has not been seen.
Harry’s visit was extremely disappointing
The animal protection organization Peta is appalled. A member told Mirror: “It is extremely disappointing that Prince Harry made the wrong decision to attend a rodeo. A crude old treat for bored cowboys who see animals as nothing more than things.” Participants would use electric shocks and spurs, among other things, to injure and provoke the animals. They sustain serious injuries.
Chris DeRose (73), founder and president of Last Chance for Animals, is also deeply disappointed in Harry. Mainly because Meghan cares about the topic. “Given the Duchess’ commitment to animal welfare, it’s inconceivable that the prince would find rodeo abuse entertaining,” he said. That’s why his organization encourages him to learn more about the “tools of terror” used in Rode. “His ignorance and naivety only undermines the Duchess’ tremendous legacy and her work to end cruelty to animals.”
Meghan stopped Harry from hunting
The visit should piss off Meghan. Because the ex-actress is said to have made him give up his beloved hobby because of animal welfare in 2018. So she urged him to skip the annual hunts of the royal family. Her dislike is said to have led to problems within the royal family a year earlier. Because of her, Harry gave up hunting, and he hasn’t been seen at such events since. Meghan is patron of the English animal welfare organization Mayhew Trust and often speaks out for animal rights and the end of animal cruelty. (bsn)
