Princess Estelle: – – Has stretched and grown

It has become a tradition for many royal houses in Europe to mark the royals’ birthdays by sharing new, royal portraits. That is also the case reaches Princess Estelle of Sweden turns nine today, Tuesday 23 February.

The Swedish royal family has released a series of four photos of Crown Princess Victoria (43) and Prince Daniel (47)’s firstborn, which was born on February 23, 2012.

The photos were taken at home at the Crown Princess family’s permanent residence Haga Castle, just outside Stockholm. There is no doubt that it is an upcoming queen who has a birthday, and the princess is undoubtedly starting to grow as well.

The newly beaten nine-year-old – who is number two in the line of succession to the Swedish throne – has stretched and become big, thinks King and House royal expert Caroline Vagle.

– While she used to be able to fool around with cakes and cream in her birthday pictures, she is now more “adult” in appearance. But fortunately, the security, the smile and the sly look are still in place, she says.

Small celebration

The new photos were taken by photographer Kate Gabor, who has photographed the Swedish royal family on several previous occasions. She took almost all the pictures of Estelle in the first years of her life, so it is an old acquaintance who hides behind the camera.

See and Hear royal house expert believes Princess Estelle was awakened in bed with song and gifts on the big day.

– But the celebration later in the day will probably be a bit amputated, as most people do at the moment. While she got the king and queen on a birthday visit last year, the pandemic puts an end to it this year. Most likely, the celebration that the new birthday photos show will be in good company with little brother Oscar and the family dog Rio. And the parents, of course, says Vagle.

In one of the pictures is also little brother Prince Oscar (4) – who by the way will be five years old in just one week. In this picture, the relatively new family dog Rio is also pictured, which they acquired last spring.

It was in May that the Crown Princess family revealed that they had got a puppy, which is of the Cavapoo breed.

It is a mixture of the breeds Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and poodle, and then got Victoria and Daniel criticism from various quarters for choosing a mixed breed. Now, however, little Rio has become a well-integrated part of the family – and a self-described participant in Estelle’s birthday photo.

As mentioned, Princess Estelle is the eldest child of Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, and will thus one day become queen of Sweden. She is also the first granddaughter of King Carl Gustaf (74) and Queen Silvia (77).
