Project Vector, the prototype that anticipates urban mobility

-

Jaguar Land Rover today presented the new concept car, Project Vector, as part of the company’s ‘Destination Zero’ mission, thus offering its vision of an autonomous, electric and connected urban mobility of the future.

The ‘Destination Zero’ mission of Jaguar Land Rover has the ambition to make societies safer and healthier and the environment cleaner. With a relentless innovation process, the company focuses on achieving a future of zero emissions, zero accidents and zero traffic jams through its products and services and in all its facilities.

As the next stage of this trip, Project Vector shows an advanced, flexible and multi-purpose electric vehicle that is ready for autonomy.

This concept car measures only four meters in length and is designed for the city, housing all its battery and traction train components on a flat ground, allowing a variety of uses. The interior space of the cabin allows configurations of seats for private or shared use and even the option of commercial uses, such as last mile deliveries.

The Project Vector concept has been created with the mission of raising the quality of urban life in the future. It has been developed at the National Automotive Innovation Center to obtain the advantages of working with agility and in close collaboration with academic and external partners.

It will also address the broader mobility landscape, from the way in which customers connect with mobility services, to the necessary infrastructure to allow the existence of fully integrated and autonomous vehicles in our cities.

The intention is to collaborate with the City of Coventry and the West Midlands Combined Authority to plan a mobility service from the end of 2021 that will serve as a living laboratory for future mobility on the streets of Coventry. .
