Proparco launches online training for investors in Africa

(Ecofin Agency) – In Africa, there is a need for investment-related training. Professionals in this sector on the continent can fill this need by participating in a program initiated by Proparco. The latter offers training and mentoring sessions in Private Equity and Private Credit.

Proparco, a subsidiary of the French Development Agency dedicated to the private sector, has launched the first edition of its fellowship program called African Private Equity Fellowship, which offers African investors an opportunity for online training (MOOC) and mentoring. The program targets finance professionals active in Africa with a good knowledge of English and who wish to accelerate their career on the continent.

The training will focus on the major trends in private equity in Africa, macro-risk management, private credit in Africa, venture capital, private equity in Africa with a particular interest in the energy, finance, health and agri-food.

The online program is free. It asks participants to commit 2 to 3 hours per week, over a period of 6 months between January and June 2023. At the end of the fellowship, participants will receive an African private equity certificate and join the community of investors Africans from Proparco.

The program launched in partnership with France Invest and Campus AFD, aims to give African investors skills to boost their careers. “There is a real need for training dedicated to investment in Africa in order to enable new generations of investors to gain knowledge, exchange with each other and accelerate their careers”, said Damien Braud, head of the Private Equity – Africa and Mediterranean division at Proparco.

Applications are open until December 10, 2022.
