P’tite Grenouille de Rimouski outbreak: public health calls for screening

The regional director of public health for Bas-Saint-Laurent, Dr Sylvain Leduc, is calling for targeted screening for COVID-19 to all people who have frequented the La P’tite Grenouille bar in Rimouski on the 12th, 13th and 14th. last november. So far, five people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 in connection with this outbreak.

This call also targets people who have participated in private parties on the same dates. Epidemiological investigations to trace all significant contacts of confirmed cases are continuing.

Dr Sylvain Leduc is also asking for everyone’s collaboration in the investigations. “The effectiveness of our public health actions largely depends on the information that is shared with us. To break the chain of transmission, we must trace all those who have been potentially exposed to the virus and isolate them, if applicable. If you get a call from public health, I ask you to team up with us, he argues. All people who have received public health isolation instructions must comply with them.


Anyone wishing to have a screening test can do so at the Rimouski screening clinic, located at 288, rue Pierre-Saindon. Hours of operation will be extended until 11 p.m. today and tomorrow. The situation will be reassessed for the following days. It is also strongly recommended to make an appointment at 1 877 644-4545.

In addition, all people who believe they have been exposed to the virus or in contact with people exposed to the virus and / or who are awaiting a screening result must also be placed in isolation.

The rules to follow to limit the spread of the virus are summarized as follows: stay at home if you experience symptoms, keep a physical distance of two meters, wear a face cover in public places, wash your hands regularly and limit your contact. .
