Public officials who agreed to receive 20 billion won for preferential sale of Busan North Port redevelopment are prosecuted

Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Level 3… A Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport official who introduced the construction company earlier is also indicted

An executive from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, who promised a preferential sale of the project site to a construction company in connection with the Busan Port North Port redevelopment project and agreed to receive 20 billion won from the project profits, was recently handed over to trial.

The Daejeon District Prosecutor’s Office announced on the 15th that it had indicted a third-class civil servant A from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries without detention on charges of bribery, etc.

Person A, who was in charge of the Busan Port North Port redevelopment project, is accused of selling the project site to construction company B, and then selling the site to share the profits.

It was found that A promised to receive 20 billion won from B through preferential incense.

He is also accused of giving official documents from the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries to Mr. B (disclosure of official secrets) and receiving meals.

Earlier, the prosecution also arrested and indicted a public official belonging to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for introducing Mr. A to Mr. B.

However, it is known that B did not receive the promised land as the North Port redevelopment project did not proceed as planned.

The Busan Port North Port redevelopment project was the largest trading port in Korea in the past, but now it is a project to give the main function to the Busan New Port and to transform the declining North Port into a water-friendly space and a maritime city.
