Putin helps Lukashenko with another large loan – Belarus

Berlin / Minsk – In view of new sanctions from the West, Russia is supporting the authoritarian-led Belarus (Belarus) with another large loan. Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin assured ruler Alexander Lukashenko a loan of 500 million US dollars (410 million euros) until the end of June. After the forced landing of a European passenger plane and the arrest of a government critic in Minsk, both the EU and the US imposed further sanctions.
