Could the Russian president be the only person who can prevent the conflict in Ukraine from escalating?
This is a hypothesis that a former military intelligence officer mentioned on the airwaves of LCN.
“It is possible that Vladimir Poutine is the brake with an intensification of the operations and it is for this reason that it maintains the concept of special operation which is a war without being one”, explains Simon Leduc.
The Russian president continues to talk about a military operation in Ukraine, which limits Russian actions in this territory.
This military intelligence expert suggests that despite appearances, the war in Ukraine could be more damaging if another leader were at the head of Russia. He adds that a good part of the population and military leaders are putting pressure on the Russian president to continue the offensive.
“We have a vision in the West of Vladimir Putin as the one who makes the decision and it is war. In reality, there are possibilities that the action that is being taken in Ukraine is only to temper a large percentage of its population and staff who want an escalation,” he said.
