Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary

Die British Queen Elizabeth II and Prinz Philip celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary on Friday. To mark the occasion, the couple posted a photo of themselves on Thursday evening, opening a card they received from three of their great-grandchildren.

In the picture they are Queen and to see her husband sitting on the sofa, Prince Philip holds the large card with the number 73 in his hands. The colorful congratulations were given to them by their great-grandchildren Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis – children of Prince William, the grandson of the two, and his wife Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge – during a visit on November 17th.

British monarch’s longest marriage

Elizabeth was only 21 years old when she married Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten in Westminster Abbey Church in London on November 20, 1947. In 1952 she became queen.

She has ruled longer than any other British monarch before her. Her marriage to Prince Philip is also the longest of any British ruler.

While 94-year-old Elizabeth continues to perform her duties, 99-year-old Prince Philip has withdrawn from the public eye. Because of the corona virus, the two isolate themselves at Windsor Castle.
