Bruxelles Mobilité will launch an information campaign on 1 December on the generalized switch to 30 km / h in the Brussels Region in 2021, the administration announced on Friday. A majority of Brussels residents and commuters say they are poorly informed at the moment.
From January 1, 2021, driving at 30 km / h in the streets of the capital will become the general rule, except on certain structuring axes where the speed will be limited to 50 or 70 km / h. Furthermore, vehicles may not exceed 20 km / h in the meeting areas.
According to Bruxelles Mobilité, less than half of Brussels residents (47%) and commuters (40%) say they are well informed about this major change. More than 75% of those questioned do not know the exact date of entry into force of the measure either.
The objective of the communication campaign, also available on social networks, is therefore to keep the inhabitants of Brussels and commuters well informed on the practical aspects of this general passage at 30 km / h, except on major axes. In particular, posters will be put up in public spaces and the inhabitants of Brussels will receive an explanatory document.
An Internet site (www.ville30.brussels) has also been put online and offers explanations, infographics and detailed maps.
