Real Madrid: pointless ban for ex-real star 15 months after career end! | Sports

15 months after career end |

Pointless ban for ex-real star!

Is this the most senseless punishment ever?

Ex-Real star Fábio Coentrão (34) gets a one-game ban for the next game. Stupid: Coentrão has been retired for more than a year and has been working as a fisherman in his home country of Portugal ever since!

The bizarre reason for the senseless ban: The Portuguese FA have only now managed to impose penalties for one of the last games of Coentrão’s career!

That’s what you call southern cosiness…

In April 2021, the left-back played for Portuguese first division club Rio Ave in a heated draw against Porto club Boavista (3-3). After the ex-Real star scored the equalizer in the 93rd minute, he was then involved in a pack formation.

And that’s exactly why he gets a subsequent red card, so he’s blocked for a game!

And: The ex-national player even has to pay 850 euros to the Portuguese association because of “injuries and reputational offenses”.

However, the penalty should hardly itch the ex-real star. Barely a month after the game, Coentrão announced the end of his career and decided to become a deep-sea fisherman.

Coentrão, who won two Champions Leagues with Real, told the Empower Brands YouTube channel: “Life in the sea is not disgraceful, as many people think. It’s a job like any other. Not only that, the sea is beautiful and we need it.”

He also said at the time: “I knew that one day football would end and I should go in a new direction. And my happiness is this boat. People who love the sea and want to experience the sea must follow their dream.”

Shortly after his career, he bought his first boat – and immediately rescued 15 distressed sailors who had run aground with their ship just off the coast of Portugal!

The ex-left-back also draws attention to protecting the seas and the underwater world on social media.

On the high seas, the senseless ban should probably not interest him anyway…
