Max Verstappen supports his teammate Sergio Perez, who is in talks to extend his contract with Red Bull Racing.
After the Miami Grand Prix, Sergio Perez has revealed that he has begun discussions with Red Bull Racing on a new contract for the 2023 season. Since joining the team in 2021, Perez has signed a one-year contract and his latest contract will expire at the end of the season.
Highlights at Red Bull Racing include last year’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix victory, seven podiums and the first F1 pole position at the 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. He has also been praised for his hard fight with Lewis Hamilton in the 2021 championship showdown in Abu Dhabi.
When asked about Sergio Perez’s performance this season, Max Verstappen believes Red Bull Racing is happy with Perez’s efforts, and with the changes in F1 regulations for this season, Sergio Perez. Perez said he looked more comfortable in the car.
“It looks really good for the team because he looks so happy in the car,” Max Verstappen told media, including RacingNews365.com.
“Of course, spending a year on the team would be beneficial, and I think the changes to the new rules also helped, because everyone had to start from scratch.”
Max Verstappen was then asked if his approach to the Grand Prix weekend changed following his success in the 2021 Championship.
Max Verstappen says he’s hungry for personal improvements, but without a powerful car, performance gains are largely overlooked.
“Of course, we want to get better every year, but we also need a car for that. Fortunately, we have a very competitive car,” said Max Verstappen.
Max Verstappen added that he would continue his approach to maximizing car performance while minimizing errors.
“On my side, nothing really changes,” added Max Verstappen.
“I’m trying to do the same. I’m trying to be as consistent as possible, avoid making mistakes, and ultimately every weekend to get the best possible results.”
“I’ve analyzed every weekend of the race and I’m trying to get better again next weekend, but from my side the feeling is pretty similar.”
