Principal Strategy Engineer at Red Bull Racing, which competes in F1Hannah Schmitzwon the 1st McLaren Applied Female Engineer of the Year award at the World Motorsport Symposium 2022.
The trophy, aimed at female motorsport engineers with at least three years of experience, was presented at a ceremony held at the luxury Mosiman’s Club hotel in London on Thursday 1st December. .
“The judges were impressed by her strategic ability and her success in making split-second decisions under pressure,” said McLaren.
After studying mechanical engineering at Cambridge University, Schmitz joined Red Bull Racing as an intern in 2009. He now supports Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez behind the scenes with Race Strategy Officer Will Courtney and the Strategy Team.
