Reduction of troops in Iraq and Afghanistan: “Donald Trump’s decision seems absurd”

The United States will reduce its military presence in Iraq and Afghanistan, almost 20 years after the start of its first operations. The Pentagon announced on Tuesday that the number of troops based in each country will be limited to 2,500 by mid-January 2021. According to the new acting Defense Minister, Christopher Miller, the move reflects the wish of the US president to ” to end successfully and responsibly the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq and bring our courageous soldiers home. ”
