release date, price, points of sale … All the info

SAMSUNG GALAXY Z FOLD 3. Samsung’s next conference is scheduled for August 11th. According to the first information available, the company would announce its new foldable smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.

After a first perfectible version, Samsung has asserted itself in the smartphones foldable with its Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 released in September 2020. The next upcoming conference of the manufacturer, the “Galaxy Unpacked”, scheduled for August 11, should lift the veil on the future foldable phones of the brand, and in particular the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3.

No official date is yet known for the release of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. However, the manufacturer gives an appointment on August 11 for a “Samsung Unpacked” conference, the first images of which are very clearly reminiscent of its foldable smartphones. Its predecessor having been marketed in September, we can bet on one put on the market next fall if the rumors are confirmed.

In all likelihood, it is in any case on August 11, 2021 that will be announced the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3, alongside the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, and other devices or smartphones of the brand. However, this date is unlikely to also mark the release of the manufacturer’s new foldable phone, which is expected to come a few weeks after the event.

Despite very solid characteristics, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 had a weight defect: its prohibitive price of 2020 euros when it was released. Such a cost directly placed the foldable smartphone in the category of so-called “premium” phones, and made it very inaccessible to the general public. However, the manufacturer seems inclined to reach a larger share of users, since the first rumors point to a selling price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 at less than 1,500 euros.

Design du Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3

The first photos available on the web already allow you to get a first idea of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. According to this first glimpse, the famous leaker Evan Blass has several short videos that present the upcoming smartphone. :

This design is reminiscent of that of the previous Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. It includes:

  • A triple photo sensor on the back edge of the smartphone.
  • Volume and power buttons located on the right side.
  • Speakers on the upper and lower edges of the device.
  • A novelty: the absence of a camera inside the smartphone, which would mean that the latter is located under the screen.

A stylus to replace the Samsung Galaxy Note

This would be THE great novelty of the Z Fold 3: the brand’s new foldable smartphone would include the S-Pen, the manufacturer’s stylus usually present in the Galaxy Note. This addition is not trivial and could confirm two hypotheses:

  • The first is the presence of a new foldable screen for the Galaxy Z Fold 3, which would be designed for use with a stylus, and therefore adapted to the latter.
  • The second would confirm the decision of the manufacturer Samsung to abandon its Galaxy Note range, in order to replace it with its foldable Galaxy Z Fold smartphones.

Several certifications regarding connectivity (and 5G)

Last June, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold appeared on the website of the FCC (Federal Communications Commission), the American body responsible for establishing various certifications on the waves emitted by smartphones before marketing. Following this news, it would appear that the Samsung Galaxy Fold Z 3 would be compatible with NFC technologies (especially for contactless payments), 5G networks, and wireless charging.

The day after its presentation scheduled for August 11, it is likely that pre-orders will be open for the next Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. The Korean manufacturer should first focus on its official store, before opening pre-orders to other official resellers like Amazon or Fnac with us. We will keep this article updated as soon as links are available to reserve the foldable smartphone. We should, however, get more responses and availability, during the official presentation of the smartphone in early August.
