Research underway in the Eupen region to find the perpetrators of a crime committed in Germany

Research is underway in the Eupen region to find the perpetrators of an offense committed in Germany, the public prosecutor’s office in Eupen said in a press release on Sunday.

In connection with a crime committed early this Sunday morning in the German Eifel, a vehicle was checked by the police in the lower town of Eupen. The suspects fled towards the forest (Schoberg). The area around the vehicle, i.e. from the Hotel Bosten roundabout to Schilsweg 54-57, was closed to traffic and messages were broadcast over the loudspeaker asking to the population not to leave the dwellings.

The suspects are actively sought. Several police departments are taking part in the search, indicates the Eupen public prosecutor’s office, which asks citizens not to pick up hitchhikers, to avoid the area and not to hinder the work of the police.

If witnesses notice anything unusual, the information should be passed on to the police.

The public prosecutor’s office is currently unable to provide more information on the act committed in Germany and which led to the check.
